John was born about 1835 in Vermilion County, Illinois.  John's father was Evert VanVickle and his mother was Sarah White.  His paternal grandparents were Evert VanVickle and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents were Benjamin White and Susannah Justus. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin, Enoch, William, Jackson, VanVickle, Elizabeth, Susan and Sarah (Sally).  He was the youngest of the nine children.




John's family

John and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on July 23rd, 1854 in Holt County, Missouri.
