Paul was born on July 28th, 1890 in Indiana, USA.1   Paul's father was Lawson E. Payton and his mother was Ruth Adeline Harvey.  His paternal grandparents were Rufus Leroy Payton and Louisa Anna Dawson; his maternal grandfather is James A. Harvey and his maternal grandmother was Mary A Miller. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William Morgan, David Luther, Montie, Estella Henrietta, Mary Louise "Mollie", Isabell and Zellie M.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 83 on February 15th, 1974 in Martinsville, Morgan, Indiana, USA.  He was buried in New South Park Cemetery.
