Montie was born on May 14th, 1897 in Indiana, USA.1 Montie's father was Lawson E. Payton and his mother was Ruth Adeline Harvey. His paternal grandparents were Rufus Leroy Payton and Louisa Anna Dawson; his maternal grandfather is James A. Harvey and his maternal grandmother was Mary A Miller. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William Morgan, Paul, David Luther, Estella Henrietta, Mary Louise "Mollie", Isabell and Zellie M. He was the youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 15 on September 12th, 1912 in Martinsville, Morgan, Indiana, USA.-
