Martin Furey

Martin was born on November 13th, 1857 in Gurrane and his baptism took place on November 13th, 1857 in Oranmore.¹   His godfather was Malachy Kelly and his godmother was Taresa Ward.  Martin's father was Thomas (Tom) Furey and his mother was Anne  Warde. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Ned, Thomas, Margaret, Eliza, Ellen and Bridget.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.
