Sara was born in 1750 in Poughkeepsie, Dutchess, NY, USA.  Sara's father was Simeon Freer and her mother was Catrina Van Benschoten.  She had six brothers and four sisters, named Elias, Petrus, Simon, Jonathan, Casparus, Johannes, Elizabeth, Catherine, Jacomyntje and Geertje.  She is the third oldest of the eleven children.
