Elizabeth was born on August 4th, 1793 in Rhinebeck, Dutchess, NY, USA.  Elizabeth's father was Elias Freer and her mother was Mary Van Kleeck.  Her paternal grandparents were Simeon Freer and Catrina Van Benschoten; her maternal grandmother was Jannetje DeGraff.  She had three brothers and six sisters, named Lawrence, John, Moses, Jannetje, Jane, Catherine, Sarah, Maria and Alida.  She is the seventh oldest of the ten children.
