Samuel was born in 1922.  Samuel's father was William Llewellyn Buckler and his mother is Louisa Elizabeth Fox.  His paternal grandparents were Josiah Buckler and Mary Allender. He has a brother and four sisters, named William, Mary, Louisa, Dorothy and Margaret.  He is the third youngest of the six children.
