Thomas was born in 1764 in North Thoresby, Lincoln, England and his christening took place there on August 12th, 1764.  Thomas' father was John Rack and his mother was Sarah Ling. He had three brothers and six sisters, named William, John, Gervais, Ann, Frances, Hannah, Rack, Mary and Elizabeth.  He was the fourth oldest of the ten children.
