Mary was born in 1776 in North Thoresby, Lincoln, England and her christening took place there on August 13th, 1776.  Mary's father was John Rack and her mother was Sarah Ling. She had four brothers and five sisters, named William, John, Thomas, Gervais, Ann, Frances, Hannah, Rack and Elizabeth.  She was the second youngest of the ten children.
