William was born in 1734 in Goxhill, Lincoln, England and his christening took place there on September 24th, 1734.  William's father was Edward Rack and his mother was Elizabeth. He had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Thomas and Mary.  He was the oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, John, Ann, Mary and Elizabeth.
