Dorothy was born on May 14th, 1897 in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan.  Dorothy's father was Mr Edward John Coventry Master and her mother was Mrs Lydia Florence Blanche Smith.  Her paternal grandparents were Mr Robert Augustus Master and Mrs Marianne Kennedy. She had two brothers and a sister, named Eric, Douglas and Irene.  She was the second oldest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Gerard, Kennedy and Ellen.
