    Major General, Bengal Army ( Hodson III p.250; IOR Biographical File ). Born 9th November 1806 in Dacca, younger son of Gilbert Coventry of the Bengal CS, & Augusta Campbell, daughter of Sir Campbell in the East Indies. l L/MIL/9/156 ff.463-66 -
    
    Cadet 1825; married 30th March 1830 Kaitha, to Isabella daughter of Mathias Hennessy, late Cpt, HM 67th Foot; N/1/27 f.37 She died 9th October 1832 Meerut.
    
    Re-married 26th June 1834, Mhow, to Marian 4th daughter of James Kennedy, Bengal Army; N/1/39 f.74 She died 11th January 1884, aged 70; He died 27th January 1865, Belbrook House, Cheltenham.
    
    Grandson of the Rev. Robert Master D.D. of Croston, Lancashire and his wife Elizabeth Hargraves. Great Grandson of Legh Master Esq of Codnor Castle. M.P. for Newton co.
