Cornelia was born in 1687 in Steeple Claydon, Buckinghamshire, England.  Cornelia's father was Mr Joseph Churchill and her mother was Mrs Anna Chaloner.  Her paternal grandparents were Mr Henry Churchill and Mrs Phillis N/K. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Joseph, John, Ann and Phillis.  She was the youngest of the five children.
