Ellen Josephine Gustafson

Ellen was born on February 21st, 1905. Ellen's father was Gustaf Theodore Gustafson and her mother was Hanna Christine Gydersen. Her paternal grandparents were John F. Gustafson and Anna Sophia Andersdotter; her maternal grandparents were Mads Gydersen and Christine Jessen. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Bert (Carl), Arthur, Elmer (Sonny), Ruth, Agusta (Mildred) and Esther. She died due to natural causes or old age at the age of 92 on May 2nd, 1997.

General Notes
- She was born in Dell Grove Township, MN. She grew up in a pioneer family and endured many hardships during her childhood. As a child she taught herself how to crochet with store string and catch fish in the local creeks with a bent safety pin.
  
  After marriage, she looked forward to receiving the seed catalogs in the spring. She grew beautiful flowers and also berries, beans and tomatoes which she sold at the St. Paul produce market. The work to produce these things was very hard. Her bouquets were magnificent and enjoyed by many people. When the field season was finished she loved doing all kinds of handwork, knitting, crocheting, tatting and sewing.
  
  She was a member of the Highwood Womens Club, PTA and Hazel Park Veterans of Foriegn Wars Auxiliary; of which she was a president during the WWII years. Many times she gave blood through the Red Cross.
  
  She loved playing 500 with her friends.
