Richard was born in 1055.  Richard's father was William_I the_Conqueror and his mother was Matilda of_Flanders.  His paternal grandparents were Robert the_Devil and Herleva; his maternal grandfather was Baldwin_V of_Flanders.  He was the second of ten children.  He had three brothers and six sisters, named Robert Curthose, Henry_I Beauclerc, William_II Rufus, Adela, Constance, Cecilia of_Holy_Trinity, Agatha, Adeliza a_nun and Matilda.  He died at the age of 26 in 1081 in New Forest.
