Ferdinand was born in 1804.  Ferdinand's father was Frederick William_III and his mother was Louise of_Mecklenburg- Strelitz.  His paternal grandparents were Frederick William_II and Frederica of_Hesse- Darmstadt.  He was the seventh of ten children.  He had four brothers and five sisters, named Frederick William_IV, William_I of_Germany, Charles, Albert of_Prussia, Charlotte of_Prussia, Frederica, Alexandrine, Louisa of_Prussia and Daughter Stillborn.  He died at the age of 2 in 1806.
