Sarah was born in 1893.  Sarah's father was William Ward and her mother was Sabina Leach.  Her paternal grandparents were William Ward and Sally Parker; her maternal grandparents were George Leach and Sabina Moore. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Arthur, William, Challenger, Ada, Sabina, Lilian and Doris.  She was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 45 in 1938.
