Anna was born in 1725.  Anna's father was Peter Groff and his mother was Barbara (Groff).  His paternal grandparents were Hans Gof (Groff) and Susanna Orendarf Kendig. He had five brothers and a sister, named Jacob, John, Henry, Peter, Andrew and Barbara.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
