Mary was born on February 21st, 1913 in Upleatham, UK. Mary's father was Thomas Sharpe and her mother was Emily Eliza Fowle (Sharpe). Her paternal grandparents were Joseph Sharpe and Ellen Thwaites (Sharpe); her maternal grandparents were Mr Stephen Fowle and Charlotte Knight (Fowle). She had three brothers and two sisters, named Arthur, Jack, Bob, Elsie and Doris. She was the third oldest of the six children.-
