John was born on February 2nd, 1864 in Belgen Canton, Switzerland.1   John's father was John Liechti and his mother was Rosalia Caroline Lehman.  He had six brothers and four sisters, named Albert, Ernest, Charlies, Adolf, Otto, Hugo, Emma, Bertha, Amelia and Ida.  He was the seventh oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 66 on July 7th, 1930 in Maple River, IA.

John and Ella were married. They had two sons and a daughter, named Albert, Arthur and Mabel.
