Edward was born on December 10th, 1883 in Honey Ckeek, WI and his baptism took place on November 11th, 1883 in St. Johns Lurtheran Church, Leland, WI.  Edward's father was John Wilhelm Balfanz and his mother was Alvina Springstroh.  His paternal grandparents were Martin Wilhelm Balfanz and Caroline Kline.  He had five brothers and two sisters, named Charles, William, Henry, George, John, Anna and Lydia.  He was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 63 on May 26th, 1947 in Honey Ckeek, WI.  His burial was in St. Johns Cemetary.
