Ernest John was born on April 2nd, 1906 in Plymouth, Devon, England.1 Ernest John's father was James HOODLESS and his mother was Jane OADES. His paternal grandparents were Charles Henry HOODLESS and Elizabeth KING; his maternal grandparents were Richard Worden OADES and Maria Charlotte LANGMAN. He had two brothers named Charles Henry Richard and George Edward James Northmore. He was the youngest of the three children. He died at the age of 87 on April 18th, 1993 in Plymouth, Devon, England.1 General Notes

Ernest John Hoodlelss was born 2 Apr 1907 in Plymouth, Devon, the third son of James Hoodless and Jane (nee Oades). He had two older brothers, Charles (b1889) and George (b1902). There were no other children after him. Like his brothers, he went to work in the Dockyard, but he chose the trade of upholstering, doing the furnishings for the ships etc. He married Dorothy White at St Paul's church, Stonehouse, Plymouth on 19 Dec 1931. They had no children. In the 1950s they bought a bungalow at Crownhill, Plymouth where they spent the rest of their days. Ern (as he was normally called) died suddenly on 18 Apr 1993. He was cremated and his ashes scattered on his parents grave at Ford Park Cemetery, Plymouth.
