I am not sure if this is the same Patrick as in this place, but it is suspected by me that it is

When I asked Anne Burgess her thoughts if this Patrick belongs to the Patrick, son of John, she said:
If you go to the actual census page, it says he was born 1848, a mistake, but born at sea, which is correct--1842.
Patrick's a Kitley Balfe, son of one of the many Thomas Balfes (this one b. 1810) floating around. Thomas's first wife, Bridget Britten, died after their arrival in Canada, and in 1851, Patrick (born at sea) was living in the home of Mary Balfe Shanks and her husband Michael (along with Old Kitley Nick).
Patrick's sister, Ann, two years younger was being looked after by a Mrs. Burns.
Thomas Balfe, the widower, married a Margaret Ann Hunt in the 1850s, and moved with his new family, before the 1871 census, to Minnesota.
Here's Patrick and family in 1881. (He was born at sea, off the coast of Newfoundland.)
