Notes for Margaret Balfe:
Fr Dan Ryan provided the following information on the baptism of Margaret
Bolf, daughter of John Bolf and Alice Dobbs, born 24 March 1850, baptized 31
March 1850. Sponsors; James Ryan & Mary Bolf.
1851 census lists her as born in Canada, age 2 twin to James, living with her
parents.
1861 census lists her as born in UC, an RC, age 10, attending school, and living
with her parents in Oro Twp.
1871 Census lists her as age 20, born in Ontario, R. Catholic, a Servant, single
and living with Nicholas age 26, her mother Alice age 60 and her twin brother
James.
22 October 1878 baptism at St. Mary's RC parish, Barrie Ontario lists Margaret
Balf as a sponsor for Catherine Balf (b. 1878)
1881 Census lists her as age 28, born in Ontario, single and living with her
Widowed mother Alice and single twin brother James. There is a note on the
Census that says, "James & Margaret Balfe Twins."
