Sarah was born in 1906 in Shanghai, China.  Sarah's father was William Katz and her mother was Luba Isabella Abraham Zimmerman (Katz).  Her maternal grandparents were Abraham Zimmerman and Hosh-Feiga Mogilevskaja (Zimmerman). She had five brothers and two sisters, named Aron, Eric, Morris, Alfred , Frances Valerie, Chana Anne and Lillian.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 3 in 1909 in Shanghai, China.
