Sarah was born in 1760 and her baptism took place on March 23rd, 1760 in St Nicholas Church, Baldwin Street, Bristol, UK.  Sarah's father was Thomas Hawker and her mother was Catherine Hill. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John, Thomas, Thomas, Susannah, John, Nancy, Mary, Mary, Betsey and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the eleven children.
