Robert was born on January 18th, 1873 in GLASGOW Lanarkshire Scotland.  Robert's father was Duncan McArthur and his mother was Margaret Speirs Miller.  His paternal grandparents were John McArthur and Sarah McGregor. He had seven brothers and a sister, named John, David, William, Duncan, Alexander Hamilton, Oliver, Mathew and Margaret.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.
