Margaret was born in 1877 in GLASGOW Lanarkshire Scotland.  Margaret's father was Duncan McArthur and her mother was Margaret Speirs Miller.  Her paternal grandparents were John McArthur and Sarah McGregor. She had eight brothers named John, David, William, Duncan, Robert, Alexander Hamilton, Oliver and Mathew.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.
