David was born on August 13th, 1865 in GLASGOW Lanarkshire Scotland.  David's father was Duncan McArthur and his mother was Margaret Speirs Miller.  His paternal grandparents were John McArthur and Sarah McGregor. He had seven brothers and a sister, named John, William, Duncan, Robert, Alexander Hamilton, Oliver, Mathew and Margaret.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.
