Esther was born in 1868.  Esther's father was David Manson and her mother was Janet Mowat.  Her paternal grandparents were David Manson and Esther Taylor; her maternal grandparents were John Mowat and Barbara MacKay.  She had a brother and two sisters, named David, Christina and Barbara.  She was the youngest of the four children.  She died at the age of 1 in 1869.
