Pieter was born in 1736 in Aalburg and his baptism took place there on July 10th, 1736.1  Pieter's father was Cornelis Dirkszn Sprangers and his mother was Jenneke Verdoorn.  His maternal grandparents were Hendrik Janszn Verdoorn and Magdalena Ariens van der Flier. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Dirk, Hendrik, Adriaan, Peter, Jan, Jan, Elisabet and Elisabeth Cornelisdr.  He is the eighth oldest of the nine children.
