Jan was born in 1729 in Wijk en Aalburg and his baptism took place there on January 23rd, 1729.1  Jan's father was Cornelis Dirkszn Sprangers and his mother was Jenneke Verdoorn.  His maternal grandparents were Hendrik Janszn Verdoorn and Magdalena Ariens van der Flier. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Dirk, Hendrik, Adriaan, Peter, Pieter, Jan, Elisabet and Elisabeth Cornelisdr.  He was the sixth oldest of the nine children.  He died before 1739.
