Hendrik was born in 1804.1  Hendrik's father was Sijpke Pieterszn Soveelen and his mother was Gerritje Buurman.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter Pieterszn Soveelen and Ettjen Harkers; his maternal grandparents were Hendrik Jacobszn Buurman and Jannetje Meesen. He had three sisters named Etje, Jannetje and Antje.  He was the second oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 82 on January 1st, 1886 in Harderwijk.1
