Renger was born in August 1775 in Nijkerk and his baptism took place there on August 20th, 1775.1  Renger's father was Dirk Rengersen and his mother was Aaltje Gerritsdr Rijks.  His paternal grandparents were Arend Rengersen and Grietje Aartsdr Martenszn N.N.. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Rik, Hendrik, Rijkend, Renger Dirkszn, Maartje Dirksdr and Rikje.  He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Teunis, Jan Dirkszn Rengersen, Gerritje Dirksdr, Jannetje, Maria Dirksdr and Aaltje Dirksdr.
