Teunis was born in January 1791 in Nijkerk and his baptism took place there on January 16th, 1791.1  Teunis' father was Dirk Rengersen and his mother was Elisabeth Theunisdr van de Geest.  His paternal grandparents were Arend Rengersen and Grietje Aartsdr Martenszn N.N.. He had a brother and four sisters, named Jan Dirkszn Rengersen, Gerritje Dirksdr, Jannetje, Maria Dirksdr and Aaltje Dirksdr.  He was the oldest of the six children. He had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Rik, Renger, Hendrik, Rijkend, Renger Dirkszn, Maartje Dirksdr and Rikje.  He died at the age of 65 on March 7th, 1856 in Nijkerk.2
