Berent was born in June 1802 and his baptism took place on June 6th, 1802 in Harderwijk.1  Berent's father was Samuel Andrieszn Mons and his mother was Elisabeth Jansdr N.N..  His paternal grandparents were Andries Andrieszn Mons and Steijntje Samuelsdr Schaftenaar; his maternal grandparents were Jan Eijberszn N.N. and Antje Barendsdr N.N.. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Jan, Andries Samuelszn, Thijs Samuelszn, Stijntje Samuels and Annetjen Samuelsdr.  He was the youngest of the six children.  He died at the age of 52 on May 2nd, 1855 in Harderwijk.1
