Peter was born in 1618 in Sprang-Capelle and his baptism took place on April 21st, 1618 in Capelle (Noord Brabant).1   His godfathers were Jan Janszn, Jan Thyszn and his godmother was Kuen Gerartsdr Smit. Peter's father was Gerrit Peterszn van der Hoeven and his mother was Thuentien Gerrits Antonisdr Smit.  His paternal grandparents were Peter Gerit Andrieszn van der Hoeven and Anneke Adriaensdr de Jonge. He had a brother and three sisters, named Chiel, Ariaenken, Anneken and Maycken Geerits Petersdr.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
