Jan was born in 1754 in Genderen and his baptism took place there on November 3rd, 1754.1  Jan's father was Willem Janszn van den Heuvel and his mother was Willemijne Matthijsdr van Gammeren.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Dirkszn van den Heuvel and Sijke Willemsdr Versteeg; his maternal grandparents are Matthijs van Gammeren and <Unknown>. He had a brother and six sisters, named Matthijs, Sijke, Anneke, Jenneke, Teuntje, Adriana and Pieternella.  He was the third oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 40 on March 18th, 1794 in Genderen.2
