Mattheus was born on May 25th, 1795 in Driel and his baptism took place there on May 31st, 1795.1  Mattheus' father was Gradus van Heekesen and his mother was Jenneke de Gelder.  His paternal grandfather is Matheus van Hekesen and his paternal grandmother was Allegonda van Erp; his maternal grandfather is Arnoldus de Gelder and his maternal grandmother was Cornelia van Keulen. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Arnoldus, Adrianus, Arnoldus, Ida, Allegonda, Jenneke and Pieternella.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 19 on August 1st, 1814 in Driel.1
