Jan was born in September 1737 in Dussen and his baptism took place there on September 8th, 1736.1   His godmother was zuster van de moeder. Jan's father was Peeter van Giessen and his mother was Wouterken Maijke de Bock.  His paternal grandparents were David Jacobszn van Giessen and Cornelia Petersdr van Gelder. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Davidt, Antonij, Antonij, Maijken and Lijsbeth.  He was the fourth oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 39 in April 1777 in Dussen.  The funeral took place on April 9th, 1777 in Dussen.1 1
