Aart was born in October 1786 in Harderwijk and his baptism took place there on October 1st, 1786.1  Aart's father was Goossen Aartszn Foppen and his mother was Geertje Heijmensdr Miggelse N.N..  His paternal grandparents were Aart Klaaszn Foppen and Albertje Aartsdr N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Heijmen Miggelszn N.N. and Jacobje Jacobsdr N.N.. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Heijmen Goossenszn, Jacob, Albertjen Goosensdr, Petertje Goossensdr, Aartje Goossensdr and Aartjen Goossensdr.  He was the sixth oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 72 on October 23rd, 1858 in Harderwijk.1
