Egbert was born in 1664 in Haaften and his baptism took place there on April 8th, 1664 conducted by Reverend Cornelius Glummerus.1  Egbert's father was Gompert Egbertszn Blomhert and his mother was Maria Koenen.  His paternal grandparents were Egbert Janszn Blomhert and Heesken Gomperts N.N.. He had eight brothers and a sister, named Egbert, Egbert, Coenraedt Gompertszn, Philip Gompertszn, Johannes, Adrianus Gompert Egbertszn, Steven, Steven Gompertszn and Heesken.  He was the oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 1 in 1665 in Haaften.2
