Egbert was born on December 31st, 1665 in Haaften and his baptism took place there in 1665 conducted by Reverend Cornelius Glummerus.1  Egbert's father was Gompert Egbertszn Blomhert and his mother was Maria Koenen.  His paternal grandparents were Egbert Janszn Blomhert and Heesken Gomperts N.N.. He had eight brothers and a sister, named Egbert, Egbert, Coenraedt Gompertszn, Philip Gompertszn, Johannes, Adrianus Gompert Egbertszn, Steven, Steven Gompertszn and Heesken.  He was the second oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 1 in 1666 in Haaften.2
