Cecilia was born on October 23rd, 1814 in South Shields, Durham.1   Cecilia's father was Thomas Norman and her mother was Mary Hogg.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Hogg and Ursula Potts. She had two brothers and a sister, named Thomas, Robert and Margaret.  She was the youngest of the four children.
