Sarah was born in 1776 in Salisbury, Wiltshire and her christening took place on April 11th, 1776 in Saint Thomas, Salisbury, Wiltshire.1 2   Sarah's father was John Naish and her mother was Sarah Banger.  Her maternal grandparents were William Banger and Sarah. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Charles, John, William, Reuben, Henrietta, Phoebe, Elizabeth and Leonora.  She was the oldest of the nine children.
