Reuben was born in 1786 in Salisbury, Wiltshire and his christening took place on April 30th, 1786 in Saint Thomas, Salisbury, Wiltshire.1 2   Reuben's father was John Naish and his mother was Sarah Banger.  His maternal grandparents were William Banger and Sarah. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Charles, John, William, Sarah, Henrietta, Phoebe, Elizabeth and Leonora.  He was the second youngest of the nine children.
