Sarah was born in 1775 in Kimmeridge, Dorset and her christening took place there on June 30th, 1775.1 2   Sarah's father was Thomas Croombes and her mother was Elizabeth Mathews. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Isaac, James, Abraham, Harriet and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the six children.
