Aaron was born in 1840 in Eling, Hampshire.1   Aaron's father was George Frederick Broomfield and his mother was Ann Eliza Bromfield.  His paternal grandparents were John Broomfield and Hester Hopkins; his maternal grandparents were Robert Bromfield and Ann Plomley. He had five sisters named Mary, Ruth, Ann, Alice and Rose.  He was the third oldest of the six children. He had three half-brothers named James, Mark and Isaac.
