Rita was born on August 11th, 1882 in Southampton, Hampshire.1  Rita's father was Charles Barnes and her mother was Angelina Mary Ann Philpot.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Barnes and Hannah Over; her maternal grandparents were William Philpot and Margaret Norman. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Charles, Walter, George, James, Edward, Henry, Arthur, Hannah, Angelina and Emily.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.  She died from cancer at the age of 67 on April 24th, 1950 in St Denys, Portswood, Southampton, Hampshire.  She was buried on April 27th, 1950 in Southampton Old Cemetery A156 293.2 3
