Thomas' father was George JAYES and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth HALLAS. He had five brothers and two sisters, named James, Herman, John, George, Oscar, Mary and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 48 on May 19th, 1925 in Tilbury, Essex.²
